ChessBlind works without accounts, logins, or registration. We do not collect personally identifying information. To understand how the app is used and to make it better, we collect a small amount of anonymous usage analytics, described below.
Information We Collect
ChessBlind collects anonymous, non-personal usage analytics:
- An anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated on first launch and stored on your device. It is not linked to your identity and contains no personal information.
- App usage events — in-app actions such as starting and solving puzzles, using hints, and navigating between screens.
- Technical information — app version, platform (iOS or Android), and operating system version.
- Approximate location — your country only, derived on our provider's servers from your IP address. We do not collect precise or GPS location.
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, precise location, or any advertising identifier. Your chosen nickname and avatar are stored only on your device and are never sent off it.
How We Use This Data
Analytics is used solely to measure feature usage and engagement, find problems, and improve ChessBlind. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell your data.
Analytics Provider
We use PostHog as our analytics processor. Anonymous analytics data is processed and stored on PostHog's United States infrastructure on our behalf. We do not share your data with third parties for their own purposes.
On-Device Data
Your puzzle history, profile (nickname and avatar), and preferences are stored exclusively on your device using standard local storage mechanisms. This data never leaves your device.
Children's Privacy
ChessBlind is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The analytics described above are anonymous and are not used to identify any individual.
